My two yorkshires seem to do perfectly well around me and my 5 brothers and sisters (from the ages of 10-16) It seems that all they really want is to be petted, as long as your daughter doesnt drop her while holding the dog, or hold the dog the wrong way, i'm sure that it'll work fine. I think that people are sometimes worried that small children will treat a little dog like a stuffed animal.... you'll be fine
